1. Who we are
Bilgs Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent UK maker of handmade 3D printed goods, trading under the name Bilgs Studio. We are the data controller for personal information collected through bilgsstudio.com and connected sales channels. You can contact us at hello@bilgsstudio.com.
2. What data we collect
We only collect the personal data required to fulfil your order, respond to your enquiry, or send marketing emails you have opted in to. This includes:
- Identity data — your name and any personalisation text you submit.
- Contact data — email address, postal address, and phone number where provided.
- Order data — items purchased, variants chosen, order notes, and uploaded files (GPX routes, photos, references).
- Payment data — processed directly by Shopify Payments and our card processors. We do not store card details.
- Communication data — messages you send via the contact and custom order forms.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and basic analytics about how the site is used.
3. How we use your data and our lawful basis
- To fulfil your order — performance of a contract.
- To answer enquiries — legitimate interests in providing customer service.
- To send order updates and transactional emails — performance of a contract.
- To send marketing emails — only with your explicit consent (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To comply with UK tax, accounting and consumer law — legal obligation.
4. Who we share your data with
We never sell your data. We share it only with trusted processors that help us run the business:
- Shopify (e-commerce platform and payment processing).
- Royal Mail and other shipping carriers.
- Our email infrastructure provider for transactional emails.
- HMRC and our accountants where required by law.
5. How long we keep your data
Order records are retained for 6 years to comply with UK tax law. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Uploaded files (photos, GPX) are kept for up to 12 months after fulfilment, then deleted. Contact-form messages are kept for up to 24 months.
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Request data portability.
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
